Prepare your artwork to have a digital DNA

This step applies if you're working on new artwork, whether it's in progress or yet to be created, such as a new painting or sculpture.

Open the kit

Open the Native Digital Smart Dust DNA kit and extract the vial of Smart Dust and the QR code label.

Pour the Smart Dust

Open the vial containing the Smart Dust and carefully pour it onto a piece of paper, ensuring not to lose any. While the DNA can withstand a loss of up to 30% of its elements, it's not advisable to lose any before they're even incorporated into the artwork.

Secure the Smart Dust

For a painting, sprinkle the Smart Dust onto the canvas and secure it with a base coat of paint. If you're working on a sculpture or a ceramic piece, insert one grain of Smart Dust at a time into small surface holes, no deeper than 5 mm, and then seal these holes with a suitable material (e.g., filler or putty).

Paint

Complete your artwork on this prepared base. The Smart Dust DNA will remain permanently integrated within your masterpiece.

Prepare your artwork to have a digital DNA

This step is suitable if you wish to apply the Smart Dust DNA to an existing artwork, such as a painting, a photograph, an artistic print, or a sculpture.

Open the kit

Open the Native Digital Smart Dust DNA kit and extract the Smart Dust Label with QR code. The Smart Dust is already integrated in the label.

Kit Content

Inside the packet, you'll find an adhesive label that incorporates the Smart Dust DNA within it. The QR code provided on it will enable quick access to the corresponding NFT.

Attach the adhesive Label

Attach the Smart Dust Label to the back of your artwork or any location you deem appropriate.

If you're a first-time user of Native Digital Smart Dust DNA, you'll need to create a new user profile on the Native Digital Marketplace.

Follow this step-by-step guide for a quick and seamless setup process.

If you're on a mobile device, tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner to open the menu.

Select 'Login'

Select 'Login' from the menu.

Select register to create a new user profile in the marketplace.

Registration

Proceed to fill out the necessary details in the registration form provided.

Confirmation

Once the registration form has been completed and submitted, a 'Registration Successful' screen will appear. An email containing a verification link will then be sent to you.

Click on the link provided in the email to verify your registration process.

If you don't yet have a wallet associated with your user profile, then proceed to step 4.

Connect a Wallet

If you don't yet have a wallet associated with your user profile, follow the steps below for a quick and easy completion of the process.

Go to 'My Account'

Open the menu (on a smartphone, this can be done by tapping the three horizontal lines in the top right corner). If you've logged in successfully, you'll see an additional option: 'My Account'. Please select it.

Generate or connect a wallet

If you already have a wallet (either cold or hot), select the option to link it with MetaMask. If you don't yet have a wallet, you can have a new one created for you by selecting 'Generate Wallet'.

If you selected 'Generate Wallet" you will receive this message. If zou want to confirm, click the 'Continue' button.

After a few seconds, you will receive a message confirming that a new wallet has been generated. The long hexadecimal string highlighted in green in the image is the public address of your new wallet.

Step 5

Redeem the NFT

Everything is ready to create a new NFT of your artwork.

Follow the steps below for a quick and easy completion of the process.

Preparation

Before beginning the process of creating the NFT, it's a good idea to ensure you have a quality image of the artwork, such as a photograph. It's also a good practice to prepare the title, a comprehensive description, and measure its dimensions in advance.

Scan the label

Open the camera app on your phone and point it at the QR code on the label attached to the artwork. A link will appear - tap on it to proceed.

If you weren't already logged into the Native Digital marketplace, the system will ask you to log in before you can continue. After logging in, scan the QR code again if needed.

Attributes of the artwork

After scanning the QR code and clicking on the link, a dialog box will open to the side. Here, you'll be asked to provide key information about the artwork (such as the title, a descriptive text, the artist, and the dimensions) and to upload an image of the artwork (for instance, a photograph).

Once you've entered all the required information, press the 'Load' button to continue.

Check it

To confirm that the operation was successful, select 'My NFTs' from the menu. The newly created NFT will be listed in this area. By clicking on its image, you'll be taken to the page dedicated to the new NFT, where you can also specify its price.
